World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to increase an item's gear score up to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded to increase their stats (like an ideally made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats, such as damage to attack, crit chance PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons also come with an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. In addition some weapons come with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a unit. This bonus could be greater than the damage that a weapon upgrade alone can cause.
The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and current level. For example an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will increase until it requires a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. While this is usually beneficial, it can have some negative consequences as well. Upgrades can make items unusable, unless you are exceptionally lucky.
Items of armor can also be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. In the case of a helm or chest, this will increase its base defense while gloves and belts enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it is able to reroll down to a lower value.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and in order to unlock each fountain, you have to complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main side quest and completed the fountain that corresponds you'll be able to speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for instance can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in frigid conditions with a large group of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense so that you can survive a raid with your friends.
It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll need to concentrate on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll wear at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also unlock some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally speaking, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have a few improvements to the helmets and chest armor that allow you to stealth around certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the participant, produce a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions, each with different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, increasing their level of effect. In addition, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust them.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP. These can be earned by making them on a crafting table or in an chest of the Alchemist. The price of upgrades changes depending on what kind of potion you wish to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and Rarity.
To upgrade a potions simply right-click on it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. The table for potion can now be crafted with four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Also, putting a potion on a full cauldron drains the contents and replenishes the bottle.
Finally, there are lingering potions, which are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Similar to lingering potions, the effect can be extended by adding redstone to it. The potion table is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added such as the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be described as a small and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also be an ornament or object that serves a function but is not important such as a thimble. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to signify friendship or affection, especially between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded can be swapped at will without losing stats.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and in the capital of each zone, as well as in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to buying a new trinket. It is possible to upgrade players for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the older one, and include an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
When the old Trinkets are not usable, they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded between players and are a viable alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are first upgraded before their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that won't be replacing in the near future (such as rings or cloaks). When choosing the items to upgrade, players should take into account the preferred statistics of their class. Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher level once they are no longer useful, and the new trinket will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
