World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to an item are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its base stats are increased in value. This is the sum of all the upgraded advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item.
It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.
Utilizing the level of an item can help players evaluate the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's a measure of the damage and its quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done by using the item's level.
The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are many theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated using an equation that determines how valuable an item's stats really are. It takes into account the fact that various perks have different value and gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
This is not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can change its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.
Upgrades to an item may boost its stats. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at higher costs.
Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes could do things like give the item extra damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item.
Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using the arrows that circle. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.
Players can upgrade an item to a specific stat, or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it's a unique item or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade item s. It gives the player an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is especially beneficial in the early game, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
item upgrade , shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item, up to 140.
Additionally, certain items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their items if it fails.
When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..
The Luck of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
The upgrade overlays of the item are displayed above items in the inventory. This may obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
